Using Zoom with Learning.LK

Teachers on Learning.LK can run their live classes on their own Zoom account. This page explains how to connect Zoom, how it works, what data it uses and how to remove it.

What you need

  • An approved teacher account on Learning.LK, on a plan that includes live classes.

  • A Zoom account, free (Basic) or paid. On a free account, Zoom ends meetings after 40 minutes and does not provide attendance reports.

Adding the app (connecting Zoom)

  1. Log in to the teacher panel and open Live classes, or open Profile from the menu under your name.

  2. Press Connect Zoom.

  3. Sign in to Zoom if asked, check the permissions and press Allow. You come back to Learning.LK, which shows Zoom connected with your Zoom email.

The app asks for these permissions, and uses them only for your classes:

  • View your user information: to show which Zoom account is connected and whether it is free or paid.

  • Create, view, update and delete meetings: to create a Zoom meeting when you schedule a class, update it when you change the time or title, give you its start link, and delete it when you cancel or delete the class.

  • View past meeting participants: after a class, to record which students attended and for how long.

Using the app

  1. Schedule a class: in Live classes, press New live class, choose the course, choose Zoom, and set the title, start time and length. A Zoom meeting is created on your account automatically.

  2. Change or cancel it: edit the class to change its time, length or title, and the Zoom meeting is updated. Cancelling or deleting the class deletes the Zoom meeting, and students are told.

  3. Start it: open the class and press Start on Zoom. The meeting opens in a new tab as host, and the class page stays open for sending papers, PDFs and messages to students.

  4. Students join through the site: students with access press Join on Zoom on the class page from 15 minutes before the start. The join link is never shown to anyone else.

  5. Attendance: students are marked present when they join through the site. On paid Zoom accounts, the participant list is also read after the class to record how long each student stayed. You can correct attendance in the class's Attendance tab.

Removing the app (disconnecting Zoom)

You can disconnect at any time, in either of these ways:

  • On Learning.LK: open Profile from the menu under your name, find Zoom and press Disconnect.

  • On Zoom: sign in at marketplace.zoom.us, open Manage → Added Apps, and remove the app.

When you disconnect:

  • Learning.LK revokes its access to your Zoom account straight away and deletes the stored connection, including the access tokens. Zoom also tells us when you remove the app from Zoom, and we delete the connection then.

  • Meetings already created stay on your Zoom account; you can still start them from the Zoom app. On our site you cannot start, change or cancel those classes on Zoom until you connect again.

  • Attendance already recorded for past classes stays on your classes and students' records.

  • You can connect again at any time.

To ask us to delete other data, see our privacy policy or contact us.

What data the app uses

  • Your Zoom user ID, Zoom email address and account type (free or paid).

  • Access and refresh tokens, stored encrypted, used only to manage the meetings for your classes.

  • The meeting ID and join link of each class (the join link is stored encrypted).

  • After a class, on paid accounts: each participant's email address, join time and time in the meeting, used only for attendance.

The app does not access recordings, chat, audio, video, transcripts or any meetings other than those it created for your classes. Data is never sold or used for advertising. Full details are in our privacy policy.
